Wix Website Owners Don't Need to Pay to Convert HTTP domains to HTTPS

Among non-techies, there is a lot of confusion over domains that start with http versus those that start with https. You have probably seen both, and wonder what the difference is, and why you should care.
Here's the bottom line scoop.
Https domains are more secure. They are more protected from hacking, and any of your info you might give to an https website will have a higher level of protection, including email addresses and credit card info.
Some domain hosts, such as GoDaddy for example, will charge domain "owners" an additional fee to switch an http domain to https. The techie language for this is buying a secure socket layer or SSL certificate.
If you have an older website on Wix and bought your domain through Wix, the SSL certificate is FREE!
Not only is there no charge, changing from http to https is super easy. Just click on the blue Manage Site button sitting on the thumbnail of your site in your Wix dashboard, then click on the Domains link. Find the SSL Certificate section -- second from the top on this page -- and do what it tells you to do.
That's all.
This is a step that is more important than ever for 2018 because Google is now routinely labeling http sites as not secure. That's going to freak out some potential clients and keep them from visiting your website.
Now, if you have a Wix website, but your domain is hosted elsewhere, you'd have to transfer the domain to Wix first, before you can take advantage of this free SSL certificate feature from Wix. If that's your situation and you aren't certain how to do a domain transfer, check the Wix Support Center for direction. Or contact me at DeWixDoctor.com for help.
