Common Question -- If I'm on Facebook, is that enough?

Using social media -- and using it well -- is part of a good marketing strategy for introverted solopreneurs in the healing arts.
But it's not enough. Potential clients are more and more watching helpful videos on YouTube, or hunting for infographics on Pinterest. Allied professional who could be good referral sources are on LinkedIn. You need an active presence on more than one of these social media platforms.
And you do still need your own website.
Why? Because:
your potential clients won't all be looking for you on Facebook
the Facebook business page has limited uses
Facebook posts aren't picked up by search engines
most people don't think to use the Facebook search tool
clients first turn to Google to search for healers and helpers
Facebook has a different purpose from a private practice website. the purpose is to engage, make a favorable impression, and give a tidbit of useful or interest info, and exert your personality.
A website's purpose is to help the visitor decide to hire you, and direct them how to do that right now. A secondary purpose for a website is to reassure the potential client that they will get the best of care from you. They get that reassurance from your bio, how the site is organized, and the fact that you provide everything they need to move forward.
