Data Protection
As of 25 May 2018, the European Union has required all websites that might serve citizens of Europe to comply with their General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The regulation requires telling website visitors whether their visits are tracked, and if so what data may be gathered as a result, how it is used, and how it is stored. Although owners of websites based in the United States are not required to comply with the GDPR, our own version is likely to be enacted by Congress, and several states already require data use and privacy protection disclosures. Therefore, this section fulfills the spirit of these regulations and is worth reading, if only for adding to your knowledge about how the internet and websites work behind the scenes. Have questions? Check this post on my blog for more info.
Your Privacy and Safe-Guarding of Your Email Address
When you submit your email address in any of the opt in (contact, subscription, digital download) forms on this site, you are initiating a relationship with me in good faith, and I hold your requests for information and info products as a sacred trust. Your name /email address are gathered only for the purpose of providing you with helpful resources in the quest for attracting more clients and managing your marketing in the best possible way for a solopreneur.
Info provided via these opt in forms are stored in my website's server and account on Wix. Your messages are forwarded to me via G(google) Suite where the info is also kept in my gmail inbox for about 2 years or until you are no longer a client, then purged from my inbox. You don’t like spam and neither do it, so I will never rent or sell your email address to any third party mass marketer.
It is possible that I may forward email to you from my joint venture partners when I deem that what they are offering is something you’d be interested in. Their offers will come from me, and your address will not be relinquished to them.
I ask only the type and extent of information on my opt-in forms that allows me to include you on the appropriate email list(s).
Permission Based Marketing
By requesting information from me or registering for my tele-classes, you are giving permission to receive my blogmail, and other promotional emails that your initial request suggests you will find of value. This is standard business practice in the internet age.
I use Constant Contact for sending blogmail, which has its own data protection and privacy policies. What you need to know if that your name and email address are manually added to my account at Constant Contact, and I may add a keyword or three to remind me of your interests and profession when not obvious from your email address.
You always have the right to unsubscribe, and each email from me will have instruction on how to do that. Look for it at the bottom of the email. All yu have to do it click the link. I won’t be offended if you unsubscribe — I’ve done it myself when I’ve gotten on more than one mailing list from some of my favorite mentors. So please use that option when you need to.
The GDPR says that you have the right to be forgotten. While that sounds rather sad, rude, and possibly like you are in need of a prompt psychosocial or law enforcement intervention, in data protection terms it just means that you have the right to ask for any and all info I may have about you to be deleted from all my toys, uh, I mean, internet and computer systems. So do ask for that if you wish, and I promise not to call 911.
About Browser / Analytic Cookies
This website's sitemap has been submitted to Google Search Console for site ranking purposes in Google's search engine. Google, like every other search engine and anaytics program, uses computer code called cookies which can ascertain your general location, computer IP address, and type of device used (desktop / laptop / cell phone / tablet) for the purpose of tracking internet use by the general public. However, that information is not monitored by me, nor by this website's webhost, Wix. Your browser -- whether Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla FireFox, Microsoft Edge, etc -- may track your browsing history. Neither I, nor this website's host, Wix, have access to your browser history.
Cookies are both temporary and semi-permanent. The temporary ones disappear when you leave the website you're looking at. The semi-permanent ones can be removed by you by use of a cookie removal function provided by your browser or computer. This stuff goes over my head, so be sure to ask your teenager, or a company such as GeekSquad for help. Cookies should be routinely purged as part of the good computer maintenance that clears your cache and download history, and keeps your system running well, without eating any fiber.
This website's webhost, Wix, does gather and aggregate minimal non-identifying information such as which pages and posts are visited the most, at what time of day on which days, on which social media any pages or posts are shared, and which countries visitors are coming from. We cannot see your IP address, or city.
You are encouraged to check this disclosure on subsequent visits to this website for further information in the unlikely event that changes to the analytics software have been made.
Terms of Site Use
How often does anyone actually read or even notice Terms of Service and Disclaimers and other fine print on most websites? Not very often, exactly. Nonetheless, I’m advised that it’s part of being a grown up business owner. So here’s this section of the fine print.
For the purpose of easier readability, through this page the author of this site and this site itself is referred to in the first person (I and me) or the third person (Deah Curry and the No Hype Mentor), depending on the intent of each paragraph. Don't worry, it's all the same person. The lawyers don’t want you to get confused -- isn’t that nice of them?
Reading anything on this site, and especially leaving blog comments if that function is enabled, is an act of giving tacit agreement to being bound by these terms of service, privacy, use, and so forth as listed on this page.
Information contained on this site is provided solely for personal / professional education purposes. You are solely responsible for the results of implementing any information found on this site. Neither Deah Curry nor The No Hype Mentor can offer financial, legal, tax, internet technology, or other business advice to fit your unique circumstances. What is provided here should be considered just one of several sources of information for you to consult as you make your own decisions.
This site is dedicated to raising awareness regarding the possibilities for marketing your private practice as an introverted solopreneur seeking web-based strategies and stimulating the courage to go beyond your insecurities about self-promotion. It is not intended as a substitute for a contracted and paid mentor-coaching relationship. By following any information provided herein, you agree (as the lawyers would say) to hold harmless Deah Curry and The No Hype Mentor from getting unexpected or negative results. Likewise, I release you from any obligation to share a percentage of any resulting good fortune with me unless we are otherwise contracted.

You may, however, download posts containing action steps for your personal use. You may not download or copy blog posts or page content to use as training material for your own coaching or mentoring services. Believe it or not, at least one clinician I know of has done this, which should have been an obvious breach of ethics to her even if she didn't know anything about intellectual property law. This clinician is on my unpurgable sh!t list. Thou shalt not steal.

Currently, the comment function on blog posts is intentionally disabled so as to encourage comments on social media instead. Either way, your comments are not protected by my copyright. When you comment on my blog on a social media platform, your comment could be copied by a third party unbeknownst to me or you. It could end up elsewhere on the internet. it could be used to rave about The No Hype Mentor even if such is not your intention. I have no ability to prevent this -- and really, why would I want to?
